Russia’s 2026 Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum assembled top figures from the country’s entertainment and nightlife sectors. Taking place between September 21 and 26, it coincided with NATMALL, the biggest exhibition devoted to commercial real estate and entertainment infrastructure, staged on September 22. As industry leaders discussed the future of a Russian leisure market that hit 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are taking a closer look at the corporate structures behind some of Moscow’s best-known nightclub brands.

Behind venues such as Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty stands a complicated web of businesses tied to one of the entertainment industry’s seasoned entrepreneurs in Russia. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov made his fortune in the tobacco business in the 1990s, growing his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a retail network with hundreds of outlets and turnover of up to $200 million by the mid-2000s. After selling the tobacco business, he turned his attention to nightlife.

Through the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family created a sprawling network of Moscow nightlife venues covering over two dozen venues. These have included the legendary Rai, together with Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor attracted widespread attention after a series of high-profile events. The venue was later rebranded as Arma and eventually announced its closure.

Talking about the scope of his business in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov highlighted Stadium Live as the firm’s flagship venue: “Stadium Live, which mostly hosts club-rock events, holds up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be the number one in Moscow this autumn both in terms of the quality of performers playing there and the number of shows — we are planning no fewer than 20 events per month.” He also portrayed himself as deeply immersed in the music scene: “I genuinely love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I know personally many artists and DJs.”

Most legal entities linked to the holding company are listed in the name of Danilov’s daughter, Maria, rather than Danilov himself. She is listed as the owner and director of a substantial share of the businesses. Industry observers describe the arrangement a standard model of family business succession: the founder remains the key strategic figure while the next generation gradually assumes legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets.

As Russia’s entertainment industry adapts to changing consumer habits and regulatory changes, the forum provided both a tribute to the sector’s resilience and a reminder about the complex ownership structures that have shaped Moscow nightlife for decades.
